The proposed partnership between the Department of Mission and Ministry (Andrew Braddock) and The Worship Foundation (Neil Bennetts) will make contemporary worship training accessible to the many other churches in the Gloucester Diocese, particularly those churches in the ‘broad middle’ – churches that are not large enough to currently have access to such training, but who would like to grow in their understanding and practice of contemporary worship, possibly even for the first time.
The Worship Foundation will work with the Department of Mission and Ministry and Life Leaders to create material and deliver a Contemporary Worship course that will sit alongside the current diocesan Worship Leader course. The Contemporary Worship course will include elements of theology, values, and practice of contemporary worship with a particular focus on creative approaches to the use and development of music in worship. The partnership will also look to develop more specialist training for such ministries as Fresh Expressions and Messy Church. All of this will be developed in close collaboration with the LIFE priority groups.
Creating resources, support and training that can be offered to all the churches of the diocese, and working closely with LIFE leaders, the diocesan Worship, Prayer and Spirituality Group and local church practitioners, The Worship Foundation will play a significant role in an imaginative partnership that will be groundbreaking within the UK.
